Prof. Masato Tominaga from Saga University, Japan, Delivered an International Guest Lecture at Chemical Engineering Department, Bung Hatta University

Chemical Engineering Study Program, Faculty of Industrial Technology, Bung Hatta University held an international guest lecture at Campus III Gunung Pangilun, Bung Hatta University (26/7/19).

In this activity, the theme was raised, "Converting Chemical Energy to Electrical Energy with Microbial Fuel Cell (MFC)" by inviting Prof. Masato Tominaga from Department of Chemistry and Applied Chemistry, Saga University, Japan.

"To investigate the effects of series and parallel connection types on power plants, microbial fuel cells using sludge (MMFC) were built by 4 anodes and one cathode with external resistance. The maximum current observed in parallel type MMFCs is calcium; twice as much is bigger than the MMFC series type even though the maximum voltage does not depend on the connection type,"said Prof. Masato Tominaga in the presentation of his paper entitled "Effect on Connection Types in Series and Parallel on Electric Power Generation of Mud Microbial Fuel Cells".

"As a result, parallel type MMFCs show calcium. Twice as high as maximum electrical power than MMFC series types. When the external resistance value used is a closed value against the MMFC internal resistance, each anodic potential depends on the connecting sequence,"he added.

The cooperation in the field of education was established in relations between Bung Hatta University and Saga University, which was initiated by the Head of the Planning, Development, Cooperation and Promotion Agency (BPPKP), Prof. Dr. Eng. Reni Desmiarti, M.T. (**Rio/PR)
