Renewal of MoU for Academic Collaboration between Universitas Bung Hatta and Gifu University, Japan
On November 26st, 2020, the Memorandum of Understanding for Academic Collaboration between Universitas Bung Hatta (UBH) and Gifu University, Japan (RSA) was renewed. The signing ceremony was held virtually and was witnessed by the academic leaders from Gifu University. They are Dr. Makoto Sugiyama (Vice-president of Gifu University), Prof. Dr. Toshiaki Murai (Dean of Faculty of Engineering), Prof. Dr. Lim Lee Wah (Global Promotion Office), Prof. Dr. Yoshihiko Uematsu (Executive Director of Organization for Promotion of Globalization), Prof. Dr. Shinji Kambara (Liaison for Bung Hatta University), while from Universitas Bung Hatta, this ceremony was attended by the Rector of Universitas Bung Hatta, Vice Rectors I, II, and III, Dean Faculty of Industrial Technology, Dean Faculty of Civil Engineering and Urban Planning, and also the academic staffs from these two faculties.
At the signing ceremony, Prof. Dr. Tafdil Husni, Rector of Universitas Bung Hatta, signed the MoU and followed by Prof. Dr. Reni Desmiarti as the liaison and alumni of Gifu University. This even was moderated by Dr. Temmy Thamrin as the Head Collaboration at Universitas Bung Hatta.
In the ceremony, Prof. Tafdil Husni , Dr. Makato Sugiyama, and Prof. Dr. Toshiaki Murai delivered their speeches. They mentioned their expectations regarding the MoU. Each side explained their institutions vision and objectives regarding education for public communities, and the two institutions firmly agreed to promote academic collaboration and exchange through activities such as Education and research, Exchange of professors and lecturers, short training programs, executive training, student exchanges, Internship programs, and Joint publication, conferences and seminars.
Universitas Bung Hatta and Gifu University have made long-term collaboration since 2009 and the development of this cooperation is maintaining until now. Various activities are coming to strengthen the collaboration not only for Faculty of Industrial Technology and but also for Faculty of Civil Engineering.
In his speech, Prof. Dr. Tafdil Husni, mentioned that we have to prepare the students to compete in the work field society. As we know it, in the near future, there will be new kinds of jobs that come into existence in the society and for that reasons universities have to play a central role in creating science and technology-based innovations to make a sustainable society. The collaboration between Indonesian and Gifu University should be maintained, to cover various research areas between countries and institutions. We are committed to working better, and more closely, towards common goals the pursuit of comprehensive education, the availability of international opportunities, and research programs which will ensure graduates will become successful individuals in their selected careers.
In addition, both institutions are looking forward for many activates from this collaboration. Hope the activities increasing the knowledge of students and lecturers and get the benefit from both sides.
